Musical Snap

Like traditional snap, but with a music practice twist!

You can use any favourite set of playing cards that have number values for this version of the traditional card game. Decide first on the value to be assigned to the face cards - traditionally we use 11 for Jack, 12 for Queen, 13 for King, 14 or 1 for Ace, but you can either remove them from the deck or agree on your own preferred values.

Next, decide which piece or section you are 'playing for' and then play the game of snap as you normally would. When some-one plays a 'SNAP', the student needs to practise the chosen piece, or section, the number of times as indicated by the winning cards.

Once the practice has been performed correctly the 'snapped' number of times, you can continue the game, first agreeing on another piece or section to be practised the number of times as indicated by the next 'snap'.

Keep playing until there is a winner holding all the cards in the deck.

This game provides a fun and easy way to keep practice fun and entertaining while including the bonus benefits of quick learning and development of muscle memory through repetition.

You'll certainly impress your teacher after a few rounds of Musical Snap!
